Event Details

The clinical method of motivational interviewing grew directly from the work of Carl Rogers. It is a person-centered approach for evoking a client's own motivation for and commitment to change. It has a strong evidence base of over 200 randomized clinical trials and is currently being taught and practiced in at least 50 languages. Dr. Miller is the original developer of this approach and co-author with Dr. Steve Rollnick of primary textbooks on its applications.

1st Learning Objective:
I would like participants to come away with an understanding of how motivational interviewing applies and builds on the work of Carl Rogers.

2nd Learning Objective:
Participants will be introduced to the underlying spirit and four component processes of motivational interviewing as presented in our third edition (2013).

3rd Learning Objective:
Participants will also learn about specific aspects of client speech that are involved in motivational interviewing and that predict client outcomes.
