Hi, my name is Madison-Amy Webb and I am a Trans woman. By profession, I'm a BACP Accredited Counsellor, on the Voluntary Register for therapists, a Psychotherapist and a member of the British Association of the Counsellors and psychotherapists (MBACP), a Clinical Supervisor, and a Mental Health Trainer & Consultant.
As a committee member for the Peterborough LGBT network Committee, I have also given time towards developing a Trans Social Activity Inclusion Group, Violet Phoenix, which operates in the Peterborough area. The drive of the group is to provide activities which bring together trans and non-trans people in a fun and safe environment.
Over the last 17 years as a counsellor and psychotherapist, I have worked in several different fields. These have included a NHS Substance Misuse Service as a key worker/counsellor, for the Probation Service as a Group Facilitator for Domestic Violence Perpetrators, Adult Mental Health Day Care as a recovery worker and as a manager and lead counsellor for a Counselling Service at a London Inner City College.
My clinical work is informed by my own lived experiences of mental health as well as those of the many clients and individuals I have worked with and supported through many issues, including Gender Identity and as a Trans woman, I have considerable experience exploring my own Gender Identity.
The Trans mental health Study 2012 confirmed in its recommendations that: There is a significant need for trans health & awareness training for staff and managers across health, social care & mental health, and within Gender Identity Services.
The trainings and consultancy work I offer, like the client work I am engaged in, draws heavily on the experiences of those I have helped and the work I have undertaken on myself over the years.
