I was Director of the Counselling Service at the University of Sheffield, U.K. from 1987 – 2003.
I now work as an independent counsellor, trainer, supervisor, consultant, and visiting lecturer to the Universities of East Anglia and Strathclyde.
Trained initially as an engineer, I went on to become a full time youth worker in London and then a teacher in Jamaica. I was profoundly influenced by the writings of Carl Rogers long before he trained as a counsellor.
Deeply committed to "transcultural concerns", I have had articles, videos, and books published on the subject.
I have recently been awarded a D.Litt for my contributions to the literature on multicultural therapy.
