About Karl Gregory

Karl Gregory

RGN, RMN, MSc Counselling, Diploma in Psychotherapy Supervision, NCS (accredited) MBACP

I have an MSc in Counselling from the University of Bristol. I am an experienced supervisor, counsellor and trainer with a 20 year background in mental health and 18 years as a counsellor.

I personally have found great value in supervision. For many years, I have had an interest in supervision as a supportive, reflective, challenging, and consultative space in which a supervisee can further develop personally and professionally to offer the best of themselves in their work with others. I believe that this style of supervision can benefit all types of therapeutic, coaching/mentoring, health, and spiritual approaches towards well-being.

I began supervising and qualified in teaching and assessing in clinical practice as a psychiatric nurse in 1989, where I pioneered supervision for nurses in my area when I managed services. So naturally, I continued supervision practice later when trained as a counsellor in 1997.

Teaching, Training, and Workshops

For eight years, I trained, taught, and supervised counsellors to diploma level at the University of Bristol where the use of supervision was an integral part of the training. From 2002 to 2008, I coordinated the Diploma in Counselling – Organisational Settings course at the University of Bristol.

In 2006, I co-founded and taught on the Certificate in Counselling Supervision at Palmoasis, later Oasis-Talk (Validated by CPCAB) now a Diploma in Counselling Supervision that is run by Severn Talking Therapy (accredited by EUROCPS). - www.severntalkingtherapy.co.uk

I have facilitated seminars on aspects of supervision, including for the University of Wales, Newport where 45 supervisors attended.

I facilitate workshops on supervision, counselling and mental health issues throughout the south west region.
